What a vet visit costs in Jaipur, line by line

What you actually pay at a vet in Jaipur: consultation fees, vaccination, blood tests, X-ray and surgery, with real numbers and what drives the bill up.

A person holding a dog

The most common thing pet owners in Jaipur say about vets is not that they are expensive. It is that nobody explained the bill. You walk in for a limp and walk out having paid two thousand rupees, and you are not sure what half of it was for.

So here is the whole picture, using our own published rates.

The consultation

Consultation fees in Jaipur run from about Rs 200 to Rs 500. At the lower end you are usually buying five minutes. At the higher end you should be getting a full examination, a history, and something written down.

Our consult is Rs 350 and runs about thirty minutes, with one free follow-up inside seven days. If a five minute consult at Rs 200 is what you need, this city has plenty of it, and we will not pretend otherwise.

What actually drives the bill

It is almost never the consultation. It is the tests, the medicines and the procedures stacked on top of it.

A complete blood count runs about Rs 700. A full panel with biochemistry and electrolytes is around Rs 2,500. A digital X-ray plate is about Rs 800, with each extra plate around Rs 400. An ultrasound of the abdomen is roughly Rs 1,200. Medicines for a routine visit usually land between Rs 300 and Rs 600.

A dog sterilisation sits around Rs 4,500 for a male and Rs 7,000 for a female. Dental scaling under anaesthesia is about Rs 4,000, and it is the procedure owners most often postpone for years and then regret.

The tests you should question

Ask one thing before you agree to any test: what will you do differently depending on the result?

If the answer is vague, the test is probably not needed today. A good clinic will tell you which tests it decided to skip and why. That line matters more than the ones it charged you for.

Vaccination, the predictable cost

Anti-rabies is about Rs 450. A multi-component vaccine is around Rs 900. Deworming runs Rs 150 to Rs 400 depending on weight. An annual health package with a consult, a blood panel and a dental review is around Rs 2,600, and it is the cheapest thing you will do for a dog over seven.

How to not get surprised

Every price above is on our wall at reception and on our rate card. Same number for everyone who walks in.
