Two people who have spent their working lives around animals got tired of one thing: a system where the animal is an it, the owner is a wallet, and nobody has ten minutes.
One of us has run a veterinary clinic in Gujarat for over a decade. The other runs a consult practice and comes from a family of practitioners. We are business partners. We have argued about this clinic for two years before opening it.
What we kept coming back to is a gap. A dog in Jaipur can get a diagnosis, a drug and a discharge. What it cannot get is the eight weeks after: the movement work, the diet, the follow-up call, the vet who remembers the case. That gap is where most animals lose their recovery.
ekam vets is built to close it. ekam means one. One roof, one file, one team, one animal at the centre of it.
We chose Vidyadhar Nagar because we want to be the clinic that people walk to, not the one they drive across the city for on the worst day of their year.
What we believe
Not an it. We use your animal's name, we ask you how you are doing when the news is bad, and we do not talk over you.
No to the surgery. No to the test. No to the third medicine. A clinic that only ever says yes is selling, not treating.
Before the treatment, out loud, with a number. The awkward conversation happens at the start here, not at the counter afterwards.
We do not manipulate lab values in any direction, for any reason. If that costs us a case, it costs us a case.
The team
A senior veterinary surgeon leads the clinical side. A second vet handles day consultations. There is a veterinary assistant, a trained groomer, and a person at the front desk whose actual job is to make sure nobody sits confused in the waiting room.
The clinic runs under a hospital name rather than a doctor's name. That is a deliberate choice. You are trusting a practice and a standard, not one person's reputation, and the standard does not change on the day one of us is on leave.
An operation theatre and in-patient beds mean an animal that needs to stay can stay, and somebody is with it. Not every clinic in this catchment can say that.
We will look after your animal. And we will show you the bill before we start.
Plainly said
We are a private clinic, not a charity. We charge a fair price, we publish it, and you know the cost before you agree to anything. The free treatment we give street animals is paid for by the practice itself, not by donations.
Good care and a healthy practice go together. We would rather grow slowly and recommend only what your animal actually needs.
